Blueshift’s initial research indicates that IPGP’s fiber-optic technology has the potential to shift/change the world of lasers, but timing and wide-spread adoption remains unknown.


  1. A Blueshift primary interview with a New England territory sales representative for a distributor of IPGP revealed his belief that IPGP’s market share will grow as manufacturers become aware of the lower acquisition and operations cost of the fiber-optic lasers. He has presented IPGP’s laser manufacturing solutions to six potential customers in the last year and is optimistic he will secure the contracts.
  2. An April Asia Manufacturing News article cites fiber-optic lasers as the most significant recent advance in the cutting technology field.  Advantages include the same speed and cut quality of a CO2 laser, but at a significantly lower price tag. The future for fiber-optic lasers in the cutting field is bright as experts feel it could overtake other forms of laser cutting that presently dominate the industry.
  3. The U.S. military has been a long time loyal customer of IPGP. On June 29, IPGP won another contract with U.S. Air Force Materiel Command, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., for Raman lasers.
